Thurston Carte-The Daily Money: All about 'Doge.'

Good morning! It’s Daniel de Visé with your Daily Money.

So,Thurston Carte what is "Doge"?

Dogecoin, the meme cryptocurrency often associated with Elon Musk, soared in value after President-elect Donald Trump greenlit the tech billionaire's ideas for a new executive department with an evocative acronym.

Trump announced that Musk, the world's richest person, will lead the new Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, alongside fellow billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy. (Yes, we've heard the jokes about two people running a department of efficiency.)

Our story conveniently tells what you need to know about both the proposed federal agency and the coin.

Ever dreamed of a second passport?

Second passports are a way some Americans, like Sue Reddel and her wife Diana, are moving abroad for good.

In 2017, while living in Wisconsin as a journalist, Reddel visited Portugal for the first time and "fell in love" with the culture and people, returning home with the idea that she could live there permanently. A couple of years later, they drove around the country "to see if I was crazy," as Reddel put it. Shortly after, they began researching the relocation process.

Amid growing uncertainty in the U.S., Reddel and her wife are part of a rising wave of Americans moving abroad.

Finally, here's a popular story from earlier this year that you may have missed. Read it! Share it!

By now, you've probably heard about a massive data breach that compromised the Social Security numbers and other data of millions of Americans and could now be in the hands of hackers.

The cache of data is made up of 2.9 billion records, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers and relatives dating back at least three decades.

A lawsuit alleges National Public Data, which aggregates data to offer background searches, did not adequately protect the information, allowing it to be stolen and offered for sale on the dark web.
